Onam is a harvest festival and celebrates the reward of nature after a year of hard work. It is the most significant festival of Kerala which is celebrated with great joy and verve. We started our Onam celebration at 10.30am with greater joy. The chief guest for the day was Mr. Madhu Eravankara who is an Internationally acclaimed Film Director, Scholar and Writer. The program began by displaying a beautiful Athapookkalam( floral carpet) in front of the school auditorium arranged by the students. Onam festivals included various programs like Thiruvathira, Onapattu, enactment of King Mahabali, skits and group song. After this the celebrations moved back to the school ground where the outdoor competitions began -Tug of war and Hit the pot brought out a different level of excitement from the students. The day ended with music and everyone dancing till it was time to leave with great reluctance, which just goes to show what a great day it was.
